What is Poker?

Private parties, they can generate hundreds of different varieties of poker, some of which are so remote from the original poker that they have more poker than the name! In recent years, Texas Hold’em poker has become the most popular, wherever you play. Television coverage of international competitions (especially the USA and the UK) has put forward the magnificent apparent simplicity of this game that there is “a minute to learn” (to quote a famous commentator) “but a lifetime to master”.
